It's Cookie Season!

It’s Cookie Season! 🍪

Girl Scout Cookie season is officially here — which means cookie booths, goal charts, and Scouts everywhere learning leadership, responsibility, and teamwork.

At The Traditional Equitation School, Girl Scouts are part of our DNA.

TES is owned by a current Girl Scout Troop Leader in Burbank (Troop 2216), and Tori English was also a Brownie and Girl Scout as a child. While Troop 2216 isn’t selling cookies this year, our commitment to scouting continues year-round.

Girl Scouts at TES

TES proudly offers a Girl Scout Horseback Riding Badge Program, and it continues to grow every year.

  • 29 Girl Scout troops completed the program last year

  • 2-hour badge program

  • Available after school and on weekends

  • Offered at a heavily discounted troop rate

Scouts spend the day:

  • Learning horse care, grooming, and barn safety

  • Working hands-on with horses

  • Riding in a structured, supportive environment

For many scouts, it’s their first time in the saddle — and a badge they’ll never forget.

Monthly Girl Scout Pop-Up Shop

TES also hosts a monthly Girl Scout pop-up shop on our patio, where scouts and families can:

  • Purchase badges

  • Pick up supplies

  • Connect with other local troops

We love being a gathering place for the scouting community.

Can Horses Eat Girl Scout Cookies?

Short answer: no. Chocolate, sugar, and processed ingredients aren’t safe for horses.

If you’d like to include horses in cookie season the right way, here’s a barn-safe treat you can make at home.

DIY Horse Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats

  • 1 cup grated carrot or apple

  • ¼ cup molasses

  • ¼–½ cup water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F

  2. Mix all ingredients until combined

  3. Scoop small portions and flatten slightly

  4. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper

  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until firm

  6. Cool completely before feeding

Important barn rules (always):

  • Never hand-feed horses

  • Drop treats into the bucket at the horse’s stall

  • Do not feed horses with a stop sign

  • Limit to one cookie per horse — our horses receive plenty of treats throughout the day

Good horsemanship always comes first.

Boy Scouts at TES

TES also offers a Boy Scout horsemanship badge program.

Because the requirements are more complex, this program is:

  • Scheduled over multiple days

  • Structured to meet standard Boy Scout advancement requirements

📞 Please contact the office directly to schedule a Boy Scout program.

Cookie Season, the TES Way

Cookie season is about confidence, leadership, and working toward a goal — values that align perfectly with horsemanship.

Whether your troop is earning a badge, stopping by our pop-up shop, or planning a multi-day scouting program, TES is proud to support Scouts of all kinds.
