Every season builds toward a final moment—and for The Traditional Equitation School, that moment arrived Sunday, January 25th, under clear skies at Ojai Valley School. In the final regular-season IEA competition, TES delivered when it mattered most, earning Reserve Champion honors and securing three individual rider qualifications for Regionals in a strong, statement-making finish.

Set against one of Southern California’s most picturesque backdrops, the Ojai show marked the last chance for riders to punch their postseason tickets—and TES capitalized, closing the regular season with confidence, composure, and results.

Postseason Spots Locked In

Three TES riders officially qualified for Regionals at Ojai, each sealing their spot under pressure:

  • Edyn qualified for Varsity Intermediate Test

  • Verona qualified for the Future Novice Test

  • Charlotte qualified for Beginner Dressage Seat Equitation

In addition to the individual success, TES earned Reserve Champion for the Futures Level Team, a reflection of depth, consistency, and strong fundamentals across the lineup.

School Horses Step Up

TES trailered two school horses—Nevada and Washington—to Ojai, and both rose to the occasion. Their steady performances underscored the reliability of the TES school horse program and its ability to compete successfully on the road.

Two riders, Mina and Roma, were unable to compete due to flu, but the rest of the team stepped up to carry the banner in their absence.

Leadership on the Ground

TES was led on site by Coach Karina, a USDF judge, whose technical expertise and calm leadership helped riders stay focused in a high-stakes environment. She was joined by Phoebe, TES instructor and assistant coach for IEA, providing hands-on support and guidance throughout the day.

Behind the scenes, team manager Andrea played a dual role—supporting the team while also serving as show secretary, contributing her experience to help deliver a well-run, professional competition.

A First-Class Host, A Strong Finish

This was the first time Ojai Valley School hosted an IEA team, and they proved gracious, organized hosts in a beautiful setting. The show ran smoothly and provided an excellent stage for the final regular-season showdown.

With five TES riders now advancing to Regionals, the regular season closes not with a whimper, but with momentum.

The sprint is over. The postseason begins.
